Dr. Siegi Schuler, PhD, RSW

For more than 30-years, Dr. Siegi Schuler has specialized in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced a wide range of mental health challenges. Between 2003 and 2014, Dr. Schuler held the position of Clinical Director at the Halton Trauma Centre (currently known as Radius Child and Youth Services), a children’s mental health agency specialized in the assessment and treatment of children and youth who have experienced interpersonal abuse and violence, and adolescents who have sexually harmed.

In addition, Dr. Schuler has an extensive background working with court-involved/at risk adolescents after having spent more than a decade providing clinical service and program consultation within the youth criminal justice system. For much of this time, Dr. Schuler worked as a clinical social worker in various secure detention and residential treatment facilities for violent and emotionally disruptive youth. Dr. Schuler is also qualified as an expert court witness in the area of trauma and family violence.

In Toronto, Dr. Schuler operates a highly specialized and clinically comprehensive private clinic (Schuler Counselling & Consultation). This multi-disciplinary clinical service is made-up of social work, psychological, child and youth care, expressive arts, and psychiatry support and provides assessment and psychotherapy in the area of parent-child/adolescent issues; father-son conflict; youth/adult addictions (sexual and substance abuse), court involved/at risk youth; and issues related to adolescent depression / anxiety, disordered eating and self-injury, and issues related to gender identity and sexual questioning (among other clinical areas).

Dr. Schuler and his team of clinical associates also provide clinical support in the area of men’s emotional health, addressing such issues as depression and anger management concerns; childhood trauma; addictions; sexual intimacy and sexuality related concerns/questions; fatherhood; and marital/relationship counselling.  Dr. Schuler and his clinical team of associates also provide exclusive concierge service to those individuals, professionals, and families requiring additional privacy and access to executive clinical service (see services).

Within the professional community, Dr. Schuler and his clinical team are regularly asked to provide training and consultation to child welfare, youth justice/probation, children’s mental health, law enforcement, and various independent/private schools throughout Ontario.  Dr. Schuler regularly consults to the Hospital for Sick Children, in the Tele-Psychiatry Program, Youth Connections Residential Treatment Program, Canada’s National Ballet School, and the Canadian Centre for Men and their Families.

Dr. Schuler is a faculty member at Ryerson University, in the School of Child and Youth Care and he is a sessional instructor in Graduate Studies, at the Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto. Dr. Schuler has also published several book chapters and best practice documents in his area of clinical interest.

Dr. Schuler is a ‎registered social worker (RSW) and his educational background includes the following:

  • MSW (Master’s of Social Work)
  • BSW (Bachelor’s of Social Work)

Dr. Schuler lives in Toronto with his wife and three children.
